National History Day – State Competition

Tomorrow’s a big day for Michael, Robert, Devin and I as we prepare to enter the state competition tomorrow morning. We’re hoping that we do well and go to nationals. If you never heard of National History Day, it’s a big event that includes alot if not all of the states involved with each state having a select number of competitors to go to nationals. I think nationals will be held in Washington D.C. so that’s a big trip for us if we’re planning to win.

Our project is a website project because I love making websites and this would be a perfect time to do so. Our Project’s called Sir Isaac Newton, and obviously it’s about him. We have local copies of the site, but just so you can see what we’re submitting, check out http://sigonasr2.servegame.org/nhdstate to take a look at our website. If you compare it with http://sigonasr2.servegame.org/nhd, the one we submitted for local competition to get into state, you may notice some small changes. Heh, we did quite a bit of research to get some primary sources and learn more about our person before submitting our project to state.

I never thought I’d get so involved in World History, but I think it’s pretty neat that I get to use my computer skills in a way that allows me to learn and research at the same time! Anyways, wish us luck, we’ll be leaving at a very early time in the morning to reach Flowing Wells by 8am or so.

Also, if you’re wondering where I’m at for reading, I’m currently halfway done with The Seadragon’s Daughter, the next great book in the Delasangre book series by Alan F. Troop. I’ll place up a review either early morning on Sunday or really late on Saturday when we get back from state competition.
