My Vista Cursor Theme

I have recently created some Vista themed icons that look kind of nice. I just thought it was time for a change so I created these out of boredom. A screenshot of these icons is below, and the zip file to download these windows icons are at http://www.box.net/shared/e8e2dom4gg. Hope you like them. All of these have a slight transparency so you can see what’s underneath the icon. I made these with Realworld Cursor Editor. The Alternate Select, Busy, Help Select, Link Select, Normal, and Not Available icons, and the resize green icons all have their “click” points in the center. Handwriting has it on the top of the pen, Move has it in between the blue arrows, and Working in Background has it in the middle of the Windows Logo. In case you’re wondering, Precise Select uses the same icon Handwriting does.

I also have tried out a new start menu and I quite like it. Although it may seem a little cluttered at first, it is very nice. Like Vista’s Start Menu, it has a box where you can type in a file or folder’s name on the Start Menu and get results. I always liked this feature of Vista’s Start Menu and glad it’s implemented in this. It is free, but Pro version gets you a few more versions, but nothing too major. You can click the thumbnail to see a visual of what it looks like.

I have emphasized two things about Vista today, and I have ranted about Vista two posts back. Well, I’m not saying Vista’s entirely bad, it’s just the way it is presented. Obviously some things about Vista I really like. The beautiful icons, the Aero glass theme, and the start menu, but it’s just way too little to waste so much memory and hard drive space. I think people making XP alternatives to Vista features is better than getting Vista itself, because it is quite a hassle to pay for a new operating system when you can get some free alternatives.

I also downloaded a program called RocketDock and added some Mac OS functionality to my computer. It’s basically like the dock you see on the Mac, but it’s for Windows too. I find it very easy to access frequently used shortcuts and it’s very nice-looking too. Very easy to add and delete stuff from it and easy to change settings. A screenshot of it is here too.

Guess I’ll play some more Earthbound tonight and then head to bed.
